Almost 3,000 years before our Era, when China was still taking its first steps as a great empire, silk was born.

Tale tells it was the Empress Leizu who discovered it, almost by chance. Leizu was drinking tea under a mulberry tree when a silkworm cocoon fell on her cup. While removing it, she realized that a long, shiny and silky filament would stretch more than what she could imagine. And so the weaving technique was born, being kept in secret for several centuries and becoming the most valuable merchandise in all of China.

Later, the demand for silk spread out giving life to the famous Silk Road, the most important trading route back then.

Inspired by those routes, their stories and multicultural adventures, the NIYA Monda was born.

Red wild silk, sponge coral nuggets and green glass pieces.
